Who I am

This is Gastalist, a personal blog about online shopping, product reviews, and general retail chaos. My website is gastalist.com and I am the one person running it, based in the Philippines.

The data stuff

Like most websites, Gastalist collects some basic data to keep things running. Here’s what that looks like depending on how you interact with the site.

If you leave a comment, the comment form collects your name, email address, and whatever you type. Your IP address and browser info are also logged in the background to help with spam detection. Your email may be used to pull a profile photo via Gravatar if you use that service. Once your comment is approved, your name and photo are visible publicly next to your comment.

If you upload images to the site for any reason, heads up that images can carry embedded location data (EXIF data). Worth stripping that out before uploading if privacy is a concern.

Cookies are used on this site for basic functionality. If you leave a comment and opt in, your name and email can be saved in a cookie for a year so you don’t have to retype them next time. Login related cookies (for admin use) are standard and temporary.

Embedded content like videos or social media posts may appear in blog posts. Those embeds behave as if you visited the original platform directly, meaning they may collect their own data, use their own cookies, and track interactions. That’s on them, not me.

Affiliate links

Gastalist is part of affiliate programs including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop, with more potentially added over time. Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate platforms may have their own tracking and data practices covered under their respective privacy policies.

Tools and third party services

This site uses Google Analytics via the Google Site Kit plugin to track visitor traffic and understand how people find and use Gastalist. This includes data like pages visited, time spent on site, general location, and device type. Google Analytics uses its own cookies for this tracking. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by using the Google Analytics Opt Out browser extension. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

As Gastalist grows, additional tools and services may be added such as a newsletter platform or ad networks. When and if that happens, this privacy policy will be updated to reflect what those services collect and how that data is used. Check back on this page every now and then for any changes.

How long your data is kept

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized and approved smoothly. The only way to leave personal information on this site is through the comments section. No membership or account registration is available.

Your rights over your data

This site operates in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10173), which gives you the right to be informed about how your data is collected and used, to access your personal data, to correct inaccurate information, and to request deletion of your data where applicable.

You can request a copy of any personal data this site holds about you, or ask for it to be deleted. Exceptions apply for data that needs to be kept for legal or security reasons. To make a request, reach out via the contact page or through any of the social accounts listed on the About page.

Who I share your data with

Visitor comments may be run through an automated spam detection service. Outside of that, personal data collected on this site is not sold or shared with third parties beyond what’s described above.
